News 09/22/2003
Before we get to today's update, let
me just say that I personally consider September 12th a dark
day in German history. Incompetence, greed, and misguided
policies are once again being blamed on the little guy. I'll
spare you any further, as this topic is being discussed enough
in many places. Let's move on to more positive things. Two new
trance tracks that seamlessly follow on from Quantensprung. In
terms of quality and technique, perhaps a bit further than
Quantensprung, but that's probably just a matter of taste.
Release 49 - Die Täuschung (The Deception) starts off rather
leisurely and gets relatively heavier over time.
Release 50 - Tanz der Wellen (Dance of the Waves) is probably
another victim of my new filter mania, but it just comes
across well. In short, I love my filter :).
Otherwise, the label info will be revised in the next few
days, and introductions from the individual members will be
incorporated. I'm assuming the amp is warm and wish you a
pleasant entertainment.
After a short wait, there's
something for the pre-warmed amp again. I usually comment on
my releases fairly neutrally, or to put it another way, I
don't pat myself on the back too much. Logically, I can live
well with my music, but I'm usually too self-critical and
constantly feel like it could have been done better.
Release 48, Quantum Leap, on the other hand, convinces even my
other, overly critical self. :) Hence the symbolism in the
name; in my personal opinion, it's by far the best trance
track I've produced in recent years. Stylistically, it drifts
slightly toward the commercial, with pad loops and filter
gimmicks, but not in the sense that it would blend in with a
typical trance sampler.
But enough of the words, see for yourself and as always,
comments are welcome.

It's that time again. New
stuff that makes your ears ring, bass that shatters the
rear axle of a GTI, and speed that intoxicates your
senses.
Now that the RIAA and our good GEMA have declared war on
decent German and American citizens, you can download,
distribute, and record the tracks on CD without worry.
To your heart's content. Who needs the same old
commercial stuff?
Release 46 - Flächenbrand (Flower Brand) is a relatively
hard trance piece that places less emphasis on ripped
synth loops and more faith in energy and "move your
ass."
Release 47 - Die dunkle Nacht (The Dark Night) is a
mixture of Schranz, trance, and ambient. I named it
"NeoAmbient" because it reminds me of my old Lost at
Trancentral Ambient EPs, but it's a lot harder, faster,
and funkier.
Comments on release 47 are welcome. Aside from that, a
new Renoise version was recently released. Better sound,
effects, and generally a few new things.
Just give it a try and celebrate our Renoise releases
with it. Check it out here. Now, download it and warm up
your amp. :)

Now that Monolab is back in
business after over a year, Myrone is also celebrating
its comeback. Two new releases (44 & 45) and thus
some variety in the release department :). Less words -
more downloads.
News March 9, 2003
So that life doesn't get boring for you, and fans of
harder house music can also get their money's worth,
here's finally some pure Schranz after a long time.
Kern-spaltung is an uncompromising continuation of my
old Schranz tracks, but thanks to Renoise, you can
naturally play much better with the loops and rhythm
effects.
In short, if Schranzwerk is too tame for you, you should
give this track a try. The next two releases will be
another loop box, as well as a hearty Schranz track.

After almost a year of silence
around Monolab, we're back with full force. New website
design, new music, and, as always, motivated to the
last. Why and for what reason hardly anything has
happened in the last 12 months is a matter of debate,
but health and personal problems took up a lot of my
free time, so that my hobby and my projects suffered
greatly.
Anyway, things have been looking up lately, and as you
can see, I have more time available again. The server
migration and the transfer of various data are almost
complete. The Monolab structure regarding releases will
also be changing slightly. Since I can no longer use
Fasttracker for technical reasons, and I've become more
than comfortable with Renoise, there will also be MP3
releases starting today.
The original formats will continue to be available, at
least for my music, but since these require a powerful
computer (Renoise real-time effects processing) and the
file size will increase considerably, I have no choice
but to offer MP3 tracks. This may vary from release to
release, but for files with 5 meg++ or extreme CPU load,
MP3s will be included as an alternative.
Anyway, enough of that. A new release will be released
shortly with the site update. Loopkiste Vol. 6.
Something for the disco friends again, but don't worry,
there's plenty of Schranz in the works. :)
